Tahpenes was a queen, married to the Pharaoh of Egypt. She had a sister, who is not named, who was given by the Pharaoh to Hadad as a wife. Hadad, an Edomite of royal blood, was an adversary of King Solomon.
Tahpenes lived about 3,000 years ago and is mentioned twice in scripture, both times in the context of her unnamed sister, in 1 Kings 11:19 and 1 Kings 11:20.
The name Tahpenes means "the head of the age."
