Abraham, the patriarch of the Israelites lived about 4400 years ago. He is the father of Isaac and Ishmael, and the grandfather of Jacob (also known as Israel) and Esau. Jacob became the father of the 12 Tribes of Israel. Abraham is the subject of many prophecies in the book of Genesis, which is the first book of the Bible. Abraham also is known as Abram or Abrahm.
