Og was a king of the Amorites of the land of Bashan, a country east of the Jorden River. Og was one of the race of giants that were called Rephaim. He was the last remaining survivor of the Rephaim. "He had a bed of iron, nine regular cubits long and four wide..." (which is about 13 and one half feet by six feet).
Og advanced against Moses and the Israelites as they were coming into the promised land. Og was defeated by the Israelites and his land was split up between the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. (Deuteronomy 3:1-11).
