Merab was the oldest daughter of King Saul. Saul had offered to give her to any man who would kill Goliath (1 Samuel 17:25). But when David killed Goliath, Saul changed his mind, and David ended up marrying Michal, Saul's younger daughter. Saul gave Merab to a man named Adriel, and she bore him five sons. Merab means "increase."
