Malchus was the servant of the high priest Caiaphas and was in the Garden of Gethsemane during the arrest of Jesus. Simon Peter drew his sword and struck at Malchus, cutting off his right ear. But Jesus made Peter put away his sword saying "shall I not drink the cup that the Father gave Me? (John 18:10). Then Jesus healed Malchus' ear (Luke 22:51). Malchus means "ruler"
