Gomer is both the name of a man and a woman in the Bible.
The male Gomer was the oldest son of Japheth (Gen. 10:2-3), and the grandson of Noah.
The female Gomer was the prostitute who became the wife of Hosea the prophet. She had three children. God told Hosea to take a harlot wife, so he took Gomer (Hos. 1). Gomer left Hosea, but at God's command, Hosea brought her back. Gomer's unfaithfulness and Hosea's forgiveness symbolized God's forgiving love for unfaithful Israel.
Next person in the Bible: Habakkuk
