Terah is best known for being the father of Abraham. He also had two other sons, named Haran and Nahor. Terah is first mentioned in Genesis 11:24.

Terah moved his family from Ur to Haran. Scholars contradict one another on the possible locations of Haran and Ur, but it's possible that both were located in what is now Iraq. Terah remained in Haran when Abraham continued on to the land of Canaan, which later became known as Israel.

Terah is mentioned in the Bible's book of Joshua (Josh. 24:2) as having worshipped other gods.

Next person in the Bible: Thaddaeus (also known as Judas, son of James) the Apostle
