Israel begins establishing itself as a country

About 1400 BC (About 3,400 years ago)

After Moses dies, Joshua leads the Israelites into Canaan and begins conquering the land, establishing a sovereign nation of Israel for the first time in history. This is described in the Old Testament book of Joshua.

Israel would become the place where God would carry out much of his plan of salvation. The Israelites would be called upon to write the words of the Bible, they would be called upon to be the people from the Messiah would come, and the land of Israel would be the place where God's message of salvation would radiate throughout the world.
