Work begins to rebuild Temple

536 BC (About 2500 years ago): Some of the Jews who had been exiled in Babylon return to Judah and begin work in about 536 BC to rebuild the Temple, which had been destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BC. These events are described in the Bible's books of Ezra and Nehemiah.
