586 BC (About 2,600 years ago)
After more rebellion from Judah, Babylon attacks again. This time, the Babylonians destroy Jerusalem and the Temple, in about 586 BC.
They also take King Zedekiah as a prisoner to Babylon. Zedekiah was the 20th king from the House of David to rule from the throne in Jerusalem. This brings an end to the Kingdom of Judah. The House of David had ruled for nearly 400 years.
The prophets Jeremiah and Ezekiel foretold the demise of the Kingdom of Judah and foretold that there no longer would be any kings from the House of David until the Messiah arrived as the ultimate and final descendant of David to reign as king, in Jeremiah 23:3-6 and Ezekiel 21:26-27, as explained in the book, 100 Fulfilled Bible Prophecies.
